In conjunction with the Williamsburg Village Neighborhood Watch program, a No Solicitation policy is in place to prevent unwanted vendors from attempting to sell products and services to our residents.
No Solicitation signs are posted at all three entrances to our community. They clearly state we are a Private Community and Solicitation, Loitering, and Trespassing are not allowed.
The Bloomington City Code pertaining to solicitation is primarily found in Division R: Solicitors, which is under Chapter 14: Licenses and Permits of the city’s ordinances. Specifically, the key provisions are found in §14.363 RESTRICTIONS ON SOLICITATION.
City of Bloomington Code Regarding Solicitors
- Solicitors are not allowed to enter a property with a posted “No Solicitation” or similar sign or use aggressive sales tactics.
- Solicitors must operate between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- City code requires that all solicitors carry a City-issued license and identification card when soliciting door to door in Bloomington. Even with a Solicitors License, they are not allowed to solicit in Williamsburg because of the posted signs.
If someone comes to your home attempting to solicit you, you may tell them there is no soliciting allowed in our community. Do not engage or argue with them. You may call the police if you feel threatened. Please report violations to: contactus@williamsburgvillage.net

Exceptions to Williamsburg’s No Solicitation Policy:
- Youth Organizations such as Scouting and School Sports teams will be allowed to solicit for fund raising events.
- Nonprofit, religious, and political organizations are exempt from the licensing requirement, but their representatives must abide by the same hours of operation, and they must carry proper identification.
