Williamsburg Village HOA Winter Parking Rules

WILLIAMSBURG VILLAGE PLOWING – The Association contracts snow removal services each winter. Contracts traditionally stipulate a minimum amount of snowfall required before plowing occurs. The minimum amount required to trigger plowing of Cul de Sacs and clearing mailboxes is 1.5” (one and one-half inches). The same minimum amount applies to homeowners that have contracted to have their driveways plowed by the Association’s vendor.

SNOW EMERGENCIESA snow emergency may be called by City staff any time conditions are warranted. The snow emergency remains in effect until the end of the snow event and plowing has taken place.

The City also posts snow emergencies on its Facebook page and Twitter feed. You may also visit the City’s Snow Removal page.

PARKING BAN DURING SNOW EMERGENCIES

  • A parking ban is in effect in Bloomington when the City of Bloomington declares a snow emergency.
  • During a parking ban, all vehicles must be moved from City streets until plowed full width. Moving your vehicle ahead of time will help avoid a last-minute scramble and the possibility of a ticket or tow.
  • Don’t forget while the City is doing its part to clean the streets, our snow removal vendor is clearing Cul-de-Sacs and mailboxes at the same time.
  • The USPS requires us to clear 15 feet on either side of our mailboxes.  That’s a total of 30 feet. Trash day is always more cumbersome in the Winter.  Please – DO NOT PUT YOUR TRASH BINS WITHIN 15 FEET OF EITHER SIDE OF MAILBOXES.

Williamsburg Neighborhood Watch Joins the SafeCam Program

As part of the Williamsburg Village Neighborhood Watch program, we’d like to make residents aware of a great opportunity to help deter crime by adding another layer of security to our community.

The Bloomington PD SafeCam program is a fantastic way to bolster community safety through collaboration between the Bloomington Police Department and our Williamsburg community. By voluntarily registering your security cameras – whether it’s a video doorbell, a full home security system, or any other surveillance setup – you can provide valuable information that can deter crime and aid in investigations.

The SafeCam network allows police to quickly identify and contact potential sources of valuable video footage in the event of an incident, significantly broadening the leads available to solve crimes and enhance public safety.

Participation in SafeCam is entirely voluntary and transparent, addressing common concerns about privacy. Registering simply informs the police department of the existence of a camera at a particular address and its general characteristics; it does not grant them direct access to your camera feed or personal information without your explicit permission. You will only be contacted if a crime occurs in the vicinity of your camera and a detective believes your footage might be helpful, at which point you have the choice whether or not to share your video files.

This focus on voluntary participation and respect for privacy makes the Bloomington SafeCam program a powerful tool for building a safer community. If you have a home surveillance system we encourage you to join.

National Night Out a Great Success!

We’re pleased to report the turnout for this year’s National Night Out was the best in years. More than forty-four residents representing twenty-six homes attended. It was a great opportunity for some of our newest residents to get to know their neighbors. The usual four-legged residents, Ruby, Bruno, and Molly also made an appearance. Our freshly paved streets provided the perfect palate for some amazing chalk art.

Williamsburg Residents Enjoy Newly Resurfaced Streets

Early this summer throughout Williamsburg there were flags in lawns and boulevards and painted lines on streets and sidewalks, which have given way to freshly paved streets, modernized sewage systems, ADA compliant sidewalks, new curbs for better drainage and buried fiber optic cable for faster internet.

Compared to previous resurfacing of our streets with oil and gravel, this was a full-blown construction project.  There were lots of digging and pounding, pouring of concrete, pulling underground cables, spreading, and steamrolling blacktop. Lots of noise and dozens of construction vehicles.

We’re now in the final stage of repairing our lawns and boulevards that were damaged by construction. With new streets, new mailboxes and soon to be beautiful boulevards, our neighborhood is shining.

Fiber Optic Cable Coming to Williamsburg

Comcast is actively installing fiber optic cable in West Bloomington, aiming to bring faster internet speeds to residents and businesses.

We’re pleased to report they have completed the most disruptive part of the project with the installation of the underground cable throughout Williamsburg.

This expansion is part of a broader effort by Comcast to upgrade its network and provide residential speeds faster than 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) and business speeds up to 100 Gbps. As of this posting we don’t have a timeline for when this service will be available to residents. As we learn more we will post updates.

What are fiber optics? Thin flexible fibers of glass or plastic in a cable used to transmit light signals from one end of a cable to the other. These fibers are frequently used in fiber-optic communications, where they permit transmission over longer distances and at higher bandwidths than electrical cables.

Website Banners Feature Local Attractions

As you visit different sections and pages on the Williamsburg website you may have noticed banner images at the top of each page. The banners feature local attractions such as parks & preserves, areas for play & exercise, lakes for swimming, fishing, and relaxation. Many are just a short walk or bike ride from Williamsburg Village. No matter the season there are great opportunities.

Other Banners feature local celebrations, attractions and venues for concerts, farmers markets, nature centers and professional sports. The banners rotate so you may notice a different banner when revisiting the same page.

Living in Minnesota requires year-round activities. You’ll also find banners with winter activities minutes from your front door.

We hope you enjoy the banners and take time to explore the many wonderful spaces and events in our community.

Williamsburg Garage Sale a Great Success

Despite having to push the Garage Sale back two weeks because of our road construction, the 2025 Williamsburg Garage Sale was a Great Success and came off without a hitch. Fourteen  homes participated in the sale and many reported steady traffic.

Many thanks to Laura Ailes for her planning, tip sheets, sign making, advertising, organization, overall vision, and hard work. Without Laura there wouldn’t have been a sale.

In addition to allowing sellers to declutter and transform unwanted items to cash, buyers got to discover unexpected treasures and unique finds. Perhaps the best result is the sale was yet another community activity allowing neighbors to come together and meet each other, making Williamsburg a better place to call home.

Update on Emerald Ash Boer Eradication

Thanks to the cooperation of our residents, we’re pleased to announce our community is making steady progress on the removal of infected and dead trees.  60% of the diseased or dead ash trees have been removed. Of the remaining ash trees that must be removed approximately 20% have been scheduled for removal. If you have received a removal notice, please schedule the removal as soon as possible. Many tree removal companies are booked at least a month out. We will be monitoring the removals with the goal of having them all accomplished this Fall.

In addition to ash trees there are several trees on the boulevard along Minnesota bluffs and in backyards that are dead and need to be removed. Most of these trees are pine trees or other non-ash species.

Tree Stump Removal

It’s important to remember stumps are part of the tree and must also be removed.  Many tree removal companies do not remove stumps but have relationships with companies that exclusively remove stumps and can help you set up the removal.  If you have removed a tree(s) in the past but did not remove the stump, you need to address the removal.  The expectation is to have no stumps remaining in the development.
