National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building campaign that is celebrated nationwide on the first Tuesday in August. The campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
National Night Out is held the first Tuesday in August of each year. In addition to seeing good friends and neighbors we invite members of the Bloomington Police and Fire Departments to stop by in their official vehicles. Our kids get to sit in police cars and fire trucks. There are stickers, chalk for sidewalk art and, of course, Ice Cream Treats.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for local anti-crime efforts
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!
